Nanoscience Professional Development Program for Teachers

Sponsored by National Center for Learning & Teaching
in Nanoscale Science & Engineering (NCLT)
June 16 - 27, 2008 Application Deadline Extended to May 15, 2008.
Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, IL 60439

This program seeks to develop lead teachers at grades 7-12 in the emerging area of nanoscale science. The year-long program will engage teachers in sustained and content-rich professional development as it offers science teachers opportunities to learn and teach through inquiry and best practice. Through scientist seminars and facility tours, teachers experience firsthand the nature and diversity of nanoscience. Teachers review existing activities, approaches, simulations that have been developed by NCLT and partner with the Center to extend the content pool to make science and technology more exciting and relevant to students.

Participant stipend: $1000

Academic Year Follow-up: attending one 1.5 day meeting - $300 each.
