A Hydrogen Fuel Cell and Fuel Cell Car Competition Workshop
Who: Illinois grades 6-12 science teachers with an option of bringing 1-3 of their students
When: January 17, 2005 (Martin Luther King Holiday)
Time: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Location: Argonne National Lab, Visitor/Information Center, Building 224 at the main gate.
Registration Deadline: January 12, 2005
This workshop will introduce hydrogen fuel-cell technology and offer numerous interdisciplinary activities that align with science, language arts, and/or social science standards. Several Argonne scientists will discuss the current technology and offer possible scenarios for testing and integration into the US transportation system. A parallel goal of the workshop is to recruit middle school teams for the Chicago Regional Science Bowl and Hydrogen Fuel Cell Car Competition. http://www.dep.anl.gov/science-bowl/
After an overview of the program and related options, students will be given introductory hands-on activities with various fuel cell/car kit components under the guidance of local automotive engineers. Registration for the academic and car competitions will open at the end of the workshop.
